Members of the department, V. Zhukova and M. Kozar, took part in the summer academy of the Bavarian environmental administration (Hof, Germany) from 21 July to 1 August 2025.
The intensive two-week program aimed to introduce the following topics:
- the development of environmental protection in Germany;
- planning an ‘ecologically safe city’;
- requirements for sustainable water supply;
- nature conservation in Bavaria;
- river restoration;
- remediation of contaminated industrial sites;
- circular economy in Bavaria;
- requirements for wastewater treatment in accordance with EU directives;
- groundwater management;
- educational tools for raising awareness of environmental issues.
As part of the Summer Academy, participants visited government and non-governmental organisations in the field of water management, municipal utilities, public and private water treatment plants and wastewater treatment facilities, a pump manufacturing company, glass, paper and organic waste processing enterprises, and brownfield sites undergoing soil remediation in Bavaria.
